About the Role

R J Mitten & Sons Ltd is seeking a reliable and motivated HGV / Diesel Plant Mechanic to join our team at our Lisnaskea site. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, diagnosis, and repair of our fleet of Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs), diesel-powered plant machinery, and associated equipment, ensuring they remain safe, reliable, and compliant with all relevant standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs and diesel plant machinery.
• Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment.
• Perform inspections and preventative maintenance to minimise vehicle and equipment downtime.
• Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining high standards of workmanship.
• Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations and company procedures.
• Maintain accurate service and repair records.
• Assist with MOT and statutory inspection preparation.
• Keep the workshop clean, organised, and safe.
• Respond to breakdowns when required.

Essential Requirements

• Experience working as an HGV, diesel, or plant mechanic (preferred).
• Good mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and braking systems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
• Full UK driving licence.

Desirable Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance, Plant Maintenance, or a related mechanical discipline.
• HGV licence (Class C/C+E) is advantageous but not essential.
• Experience working on agricultural or construction plant would be beneficial.
