Position: Practice Nurse (Full Time) 

Location: Falcarragh, Co Donegal

Role Overview:

Falcarragh Medical Centre is a busy GP practice based in Falcarragh Co Donegal.
We are seeking a full-time Practice Nurse.
We are a training practice with 3 partners and have the addition of a GP registrar.

We like to think we are a very organised practice with clear clinical and management systems in place,
but we are always open to new ideas and suggestions to improve on our patient care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing care in a mixed GMS & Private practice.
  • Work collaboratively with GP’s and the wider multi-disciplinary team.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records.
  • Adhere to clinical governance, infection control and practice policies.
  • Supporting care for a large number of CDM patients and we engage in a very active recall system in all aspects of healthcare.
  • 24hr blood pressure monitoring, Healthcheck.
  • We conduct smears
  • Administer children’s vaccines in line with the current vaccination programme.
  • Nursing management of diabetes/chronic respiratory disease.
  • Cholesterol testing and dietary advice.
  • Clinical stock ordering.

Essential Qualifications and Requirements:

Registered General Nurse with current registration with the NMBI

Previous experience working in a busy practice is essential

Cervical smear training

Competency in phlebotomy, vaccinations and wound management

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team

Excellent organisational and documentation skills

Commitment to maintaining professional development and clinical standards

Experience in CDM clinics

Patient focused with the ability to remain calm, professional and polite with patients and colleagues.

Professional, honest, reliable and trustworthy

Strong teamwork skills wit the ability to build positive working relationships
