with the launch and massive success of kaizenprint.com, our new e-commerce platform.
As we celebrate the first full year of our online store, our production volume is higher than ever.
We are looking for an energetic Print Finishing Apprentice to join our team and help us fulfill orders for a mixture of projects for delivery across the UK and Ireland
Start your journey in the printing industry as a Print Finishing Apprentice.
In this role, you will learn how to transform plain printed sheets into high-quality items like books and marketing materials.
You’ll spend your time 'learning while earning' to achieve an NVQ Level 2 qualification from Belfast Metropolitan College.
It’s a great mix of mechanical skill, digital tech, and real craftsmanship. This is an excellent opportunity to join the print team in a Company with an established track record in the industry.
Key Responsibilities & Learning Objectives
Machine Operation & Technical Skills
- Small Format: Learn to set up and operate industry-standard machinery including p guillotines, creasers, folders, and stitching-trimming lines.
- Binding & Embellishment: Gain proficiency in various binding methods (Wiro, Perfect, Saddle Stitch) and luxury finishes such as laminating and foiling.
- Large Format Finishing: Assist in the production of wide-format items, including mounting onto various substrates, vinyl weeding, and eyeleting.
- Precision Adjustments: Learn to calibrate machine guides, knives, and clamps to ensure accuracy within fractions of a millimeter.
- Hand work: Learn the art of hand finishing, from the
Production Workflow
- Job Interpretation: Develop the ability to read and interpret complex "Job Tickets" to ensure client specifications are met exactly.
- Digital Tracking: Use our Management Information System (MIS) to track time, materials, and job status in real-time.
- Packing & Dispatch: Learn the standards for secure packing to ensure products reach the client in pristine condition.
Quality & Safety
- Quality Assurance: Develop an "eye for detail" to spot printing or finishing defects early in the process.
- Health & Safety: Maintain a strict adherence to safety protocols, especially when operating heavy cutting and binding equipment.
- Workspace Management: Maintain a "Kaizen" (continuous improvement) approach to workspace cleanliness and organization.

Entry Requirements for Level 2 Print Finishing Apprenticeship
-GCSE English, Maths and ICT or Essential skills equivalent
