About Moyenir Credit Union

Moyenir Credit Union is a local, not for profit financial institution. We specialise in providing a great place for savings and loans in our community. Established in 1967, Moyenir Credit Union is proud of its heritage and continues to be governed by our members and voluntary Board of Directors.

Each credit union is an independent, ‘not-for-profit’ organisation that exists solely for the benefit of its members, not stock markets. Decisions are therefore made at a local level.

No matter how much you have saved, all members aged 16 or over, have equal voting rights on issues affecting their credit union.

We offer members the chance to have control over their own finances by making their own savings work for them. Moyenir Credit Union is owned by the members — the people who save and borrow with it — people like you.

When you become a member and start saving with Moyenir Credit Union you will have access to fair and reasonable rates on savings and loans. Your savings contribute to your credit union’s loan fund. So your savings are helping other members. Members like you.

Moyenir Credit Union exists only to serve its members — not to profit from their needs. Surplus income generated is returned to members by way of a dividend and/or is directed to improved or additional services required by the members.

Moyenir Credit Union is non-sectarian and non-political, and continues that Irish tradition of co-operative self-help.

Moyenir Credit Union Limited is authorized by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and the Prudential Regulation Authority under registration number 572905 and is affiliated to the Irish League of Credit Unions.

Our Common Bond

The common bond is the factor which unites the members of a Credit Union together i.e. those living or working in the same area may join a credit union. It defines the area in which a credit union can operate.

The common bond ensures that the savings of members of the community are available to fellow members as loans. The common bond is essentially people doing it for themselves. It demonstrates effectively how a credit union is a credit co-operative with members working together to achieve a better life for themselves.

Those eligible for membership are individuals who currently reside or work within the Errigal Ciaran Parish boundary as defined in this map.
