Tyrone publisher announces new acquisition

Our parent company North-West News Group (NWNG) has recently announced the acquisition of Hillsborough-based magazine publisher and events company 4SM (NI) Ltd.

4SM (NI) produce leading B2B magazines including Export & Freight Magazine and Plant & Civil Engineer Magazine in addition to industry awards and golf events. The business was previously owned by the wonderful Garfield Harrison and Helen Beggs, who will remain with the company and continue to run the business with their fantastic team.

Export & Freight Magazine is Ireland’s specialist transport magazine and provides news and information on transport and logistics in the local marketplace, while Plant & Civil Engineer Magazine is highly renowned for its coverage of the construction, quarry and recycling sector.

NWNG which celebrated its 122nd year in business this year is one of Ireland’s leading independently-owned media companies with significant print and digital audiences across the north west.

Its titles include the Ulster Herald, Strabane Chronicle, Tyrone Herald & Dungannon Herald, Fermanagh Herald and Derry People & Donegal News. It also operates numerous digital platforms including the GAA website GaelicLife.com, Tyrone news site WeAreTyrone.com and recruitment platform MyIrelandJobs.com.

NWNG also own Kaizen, one of NI’s renowned brand development and digital printing companies, which it acquired in 2021. The latest acquisition will strengthen NWNG’s media, events and creative service capabilities.
